The cabin interior light for Bestari…. I would say is out of proportion in term of the surface area vs the light itself. Something is missing here, I wish I could fill it with…. By looking at some other 206 models, there are few variations and one model did attract my attention. The one that is the standard fixture of 206 GTI180. It has map reading light!
I managed to source out the part through my proxy (ehem…). The installation is a straight forward job but bear in mind, there is a trick to dismantle the light without breaking the clips or damaging the roof liner. Furthermore, there is a spare connector for this purpose and it was hidden somewhere along the windscreen above the driver’s sun visor. This will provide 12V+ supply for the reading light.
The process…
Remove the light first using a flat screw driver
Undo the clips (yellow circles)
The extra connector for the reading light power supply
The replacement base cover
Comparison of the original light (top) and the replacement (below)
Duh!… It has a different connector
Reuse original connector due to socket incompatibility
Done
Even the base color is different
Could you tell me the behaviour of the map reading lights? Do they also light up together when the normal interior light turns on , e.g. when opening the door. Or are the map lights only manually operated (either left or right) ?
Its manually operated.
